Your servicer quoted another payment

Send the share link of your calculation and the payment on your servicer's notice, without your account number. Most gaps come from the income the Department used (an older tax return, or a spouse's income on a joint return), the number of dependents on that return, loans that are not eligible for the plan, such as a parent PLUS loan, or a balance that still includes interest from a forbearance. We tell you which one it is, and correct the site when the mistake is ours.

The Department changed a rule

Repayment rules move by regulation, Federal Register notice and press release. If you see a new document, such as a change to RAP, the SAVE transition, a new interest rate notice or a Pell schedule, send the link. We read it, update the parameter file, rerun the tests and date the page.

Embedding the comparator

Financial aid offices, credit unions, employers with a student loan benefit and libraries can place the plan comparator or the SAI calculator on their pages for free: see the embed page.

What we cannot do

We cannot see your loans, change your plan, certify PSLF employment or contact your servicer. Your servicer and your StudentAid.gov account can.

Response time

Usually five working days, corrections first. The figures are re-read at least every 12 months and on each scheduled change: the new interest rates for loans disbursed from July 1, the poverty guidelines each January, the FAFSA cycle each October and the IRS inflation amounts each fall.
